Freesias are very popular yard vegetation, produced for their often highly fragrant blossoms. The most generally developed types is F. refracta, which was entered with F. leichtlinii in the 1800s. Several cultivars have been inseminated from these types and the pink- and yellow-flowered types of F. corymbosa. Contemporary tetraploid cultivars have blossoms including light to yellow-colored, light, red and blue-mauve. They are commonly developed and easily greater from seeds.
